7/13/07 - Greenwich - Part II

As we make our way to the back part of the Queen’s house and the Museum we finally arrive at the famous Greenwich park. There are tons of people out, ton’s of school children playing and in spite of the clouds overhead the park sparkles in it’s rolling hills and swaying trees. A perfect place for a picnic (as many people are doing) and a nap. It was a perfect sight.

But we were on a mission to reach the top of the hill and the Royal Greenwich Observatory. And to do that we had to walk through the park (picture 12) isn’t this gorgeous? LOVE IT! Perfect setting for a period movie :). We walked and walk and walk, up the narrow hill path without breath and needed a chair desperately I turn around and see the most amazing sight! Greenwich spilled out with the River Thames in the background and London further down, breathtaking.

Finally the Observatory; the Observatory was commissioned in 1675 by King Charles II. It’s most famous for GMT aka Greenwich Mean Time, it’s all very scientific and a little too complicated for me to try to explain.. so just enjoy the picture of the Observatory.
